「Say me the truth」對母語英文耳朵來說聽起來怪怪的。「Tell that you love me.」也是。兩個動詞都表示傳達某件事，但英文用一個小小的文法規則把它們分開——而且一旦你看到這條規則，選擇就變自動的了。
一句話的規則
Tell 後面要直接接一個人。Say 不用。
這就是整套系統。三種模式：
- ✅ I told her the truth.（tell + 人 + 事）
- ✅ I said the truth.（say + 事——沒有人）
- ✅ I said the truth to her.（say + 事 + to + 人）

如果人是直接受詞 → 用 tell。如果你需要在 say 句裡提到聽者，用 "to + 人"。
為什麼你的母語跟你作對
羅曼語系（西班牙文 decir、葡萄牙文 dizer、法文 dire、義大利文 dire）、斯拉夫語系（波蘭文 mówić、俄文 говорить），還有大部分亞洲語言（中文「說」、日語「言う」）都把這兩個動詞合併成一個。對你來說，say 跟 tell 感覺就是同一個字，只是拼法不同。但其實不是。
修法是機械式的：問自己「動詞後面有沒有直接提到聽者？」有 → tell。沒有 → say。
你只需要背的固定片語
某些慣用語會打破規則——這些是純搭配詞，要背起來：
Tell 片語（不需要接人！）：
- tell the truth
- tell a lie
- tell a story
- tell a joke
- tell the time
- tell the difference
Say 片語：
- say hello / goodbye
- say sorry
- say a prayer
- say something / nothing
配對每組
母語人士立刻會注意到的 5 種錯誤
- ❌ "He said me the news." → ✅ "He told me the news."
- ❌ "Tell that you love me." → ✅ "Say that you love me."（tell 後面沒有人）
- ❌ "Say me your name." → ✅ "Tell me your name."
- ❌ "She told that she's tired." → ✅ "She said that she's tired."（沒有提到人）
- ❌ "He said the truth." → 文法正確，但 told the truth 自然很多；母語人士這裡通常選 tell。
自我檢查
填入 said 或 told（用對的形式）：
- She me a great story.
- He hello to everyone.
- I her the truth.
- They goodbye and left.
- He a funny joke at dinner.
- She she was tired.
5–6 題對：規則內化了。3–4 題對：重讀表格。低於 3 題：練固定片語一週。
